Power Stroke diesel or gas V8?

6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel. This is what most of our F-250 buyers come in for, and it is the engine most of our lifted builds start with. It has strong factory towing ratings, the widest aftermarket support of any heavy-duty diesel, and it keeps its resale value.

Gas V8s. Depending on the year, a gas F-250 has the 6.2L, the 7.3L or the 6.8L V8. A gas truck costs less up front and skips diesel exhaust fluid and filter maintenance. It is a good fit if you tow occasionally and drive the truck mostly empty.

F-250 trims we stock

XLT is the working trim: cloth or vinyl, the same frame and powertrains, and the lowest price into a Super Duty.

Lariat is the most common F-250 on our lots, and for good reason. It adds leather, the larger screen and driver aids without the price of the top trims.

King Ranch, Platinum and Limited are the luxury Super Duties, with premium leather, upgraded audio and the most features. They are often the trucks we lift and customize.

Lifted F-250 trucks

A lifted F-250 is one of the most requested trucks we sell. Because most of our lift work is done for us rather than bought at auction, we can tell you which kit is on the truck, what wheels and tires it runs, and whether the alignment and calibration were done after the lift.

F-250 or F-350?

From the outside they look almost the same. The F-250 is single rear wheel only and is the better fit for most buyers who tow a travel trailer or a boat. The F-350 adds payload and offers a dual rear wheel version for heavy fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing.

What to check on a used F-250

Emissions hardware on Power Stroke trucks. The DPF, EGR and DEF systems should be intact and working. We do not sell deleted trucks.

Service records on the expensive parts. Injectors, the high-pressure fuel pump and the turbo are the big repairs on a diesel, so a documented history matters more than a low odometer reading.

Model year. Super Duty trucks from 2017 on have aluminum-alloy bodies, and later trucks add newer transmissions and technology. Older trucks can be great values, and we will walk you through the differences.

Your real towing numbers. Bring your trailer weight and we will match the truck to it. For a wider comparison, see the best trucks for towing.
